1. General information
As of 1 October 2022, Microsoft disabled basic authentication for accessing Exchange Online:

2. Settings
If BMD NTCS Exchange Sync was set up with the option “1 - Basic authentication (user + password)”, you have to make sure to change the parameter setting to option 2 (recommended) or option 3.
2. You can also check whether basic authentication is in use in the Azure portal by clicking here.
Add the filter “Client App”. Then click on the filter and select all “legacy authentication clients”.
3. Check whether modern authentication has already been enabled in the tenant by clicking here!
If necessary, you can enable or disable the legacy protocols here as well. PLEASE NOTE: deactivating the legacy protocols may affect devices with ActiveSync or Outlook and should therefore be tested in advance. In this document, we will focus on BMD NTCS ExchangeSync which already supports modern authentication.
