1. System requirements: paperless posting
1.3. Run a USB scanner via a terminal server or BMD Cloud
1.4. Recommended scanners in terminal/cloud mode
1.6. Special feature/work process
The general system requirements apply to the processing of documents in BMD NTCS FIAC (paperless posting/incoming invoice management) unless other system requirement are mentioned explicitly, like for OCR processing.

Prerequisite OCR, QR code and bar code
For processing OCR or QR codes on your computer, the hardware prerequisites we recommend differ from our general system requirements. Among other things, we recommend a more powerful workstation if you want the OCR processing to work faster.
If a terminal server is used, you have to make sure that each user working with OCR has enough resources in terms of CPU and storage. This also applies to the processing via an OCR batch.
If documents are prepared for OCR, this increases the hit rate of OCR as well as the speed. Special document scanners and the image enhancement software that is often delivered with those scanners are crucial for a fast and exact processing with OCR.
You can use a special program to connect the scanner installed on your computer with BMD Scan to the terminal server or to the cloud.
The tool BMDRemoteApp can be downloaded from www.bmd.com/bmdremoteappupdate/ and needs to be installed on the computer to which the scanner is connected.
If scanning with the BMDRemoteApp for terminal/cloud environments is not possible (due to weak clients or thin clients with an alternative operating system), we recommend standalone document scanners.
For advice, purchase and installation of recommended devices, we strongly recommend you make an appointment in advance via bmdscan@bmd.at. Please note that costs may be incurred for setup appointments and longer consultations.
From our experience, we recommend the use of two monitors with 22″ (ideally 24″ or more) to be able to work with documents efficiently. In this case, the computer must be able to support two monitors.
BMD Scan uses the storage directory to save certain documents in a predefined path (storage path); in the BMD NTCS FIAC (e.g. incoming invoice management, posting) and other tools, you can then assign the documents.
