BMD programs and (software) firewalls

Which ports need to be enabled within a firewall so that proper operation of BMD software can be ensured? 

Special attention should be paid to software firewalls (Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 1, Windows Server 2008, Windows XP with Service Pack 2, ZoneAlarm, etc.). 

(The information given is based on the standard settings recommended/provided by BMD Systemhaus GesmbH):

The actual TCP port of the BMD SQL instance can be found in "SQL Server Configuration Manager" → SQL 2005 Network Configuration → Protocols for BMD → TCP/IP →  IP Addresses →  TCP Dynamic Ports. 

To implement an exception in the Windows Firewall:
